💡 1 SOLUTION FOR EFFECTIVE MINISTRY
Did you know that the new guests/those interested in checking out your church is the biggest group of people that go to your church’s website?
Even if you have people register for events at your church through your website (like we do at New City), potential first-time guests are still the biggest traffic source to your website. Because of that, let me share with you the 3 most important things all church websites should have not only on their homepage but also near the top.
1) Some sort of “I’m new” button/link
Because your largest source of traffic to your website are potential guests at your church, you’ll want to create a page specifically answering what a new guest should expect if they visit your church on the weekend.
I would recommend using the text “I’m new” or “Plan a visit” and make it a clickable text or button on your homepage that brings people to a page on your site that will answer the most common questions people might have about your church.
Need some inspiration on what to say on that page? Click here to view ours at New City Church and use whatever you find helpful.
2) The address of where you meet
If you are portable, do not just say the name of the school or building you meet in. Regardless of whether you are portable or not, do not just put the street address. You need to get the street address AND the city so there is no confusion about where you are located.
Saying you meet at Hoggard High School isn’t helpful if someone doesn’t know where Hoggard High School is.
Saying you meet at 234 Main Street isn’t helpful if multiple towns near you have Main Street as a street in their town.
You want to be super clear on where exactly people need to go to visit you on a Sunday without having to get further clarification but leaving your website and searching Google to figure out where exactly you meet.
3) Your service times
What time is your worship service(s)? Again, new people have no idea when and where you meet. Make it easy to find so people don’t have to go searching around to find the most important and relevant information to them.
Put all three of these things on and near the top of your homepage, and you’ll be answering the biggest question the majority of your website visitors are asking.
